AMHC INTERNATIONAL LUSTRUM TOURNAMENT

‘Fantastick Aruban Experience’

Dear Hockeyfriend,

The AMHC ‘Aruban Mixed Hockey Club' International Lustrum Tournament, in Oranjestad-DWI, has celebrated it's 7th lustrum in 2007extensively! It was exactly 35 years ago that a few friends started to play hockey on one of the most beautiful Caribbean Islands . This was an awesome reason to come together for an international tournament on Aruba from Friday October 26th to Sunday October 28 th 2007. During these days teams from all around the world played against each other and of course were able to enjoy the rich spirit of ‘ One Happy Island '!

The ‘fantastick' (slogan of the international tournament) teams came from The Netherlands (Europe), St. Martin, Curacao and Aruba . All the teams 5 had an awesome time. The games were played on the Astroturf of the National Stadium of Aruba, Guillermo Prospero Trinidad, in the district of Dakota in Oranjestad.

Curacao was the rightful winner after a very exciting final against a team from The Netherlands. As usual in the world of fieldhockey it's not only about the sports, but maybe even more important is the social and fun part of the tournament. It all started with a kick-off party including buffet and live band on Friday-evening at the beautiful premises of one of the members of the Aruban fieldhockey-community. On Saturday after the matches there was a nice happy hour on the beach, followed by a nice dinner under the starts. At the pool-party there was a huge surprise for all the guest teams, because at midnight the doors opened for a great Halloween party with beautiful people…. The diehards continued for a long night enjoying the nightlife of Aruba at famous Mambo Jambo.

On Sunday October 28 th were some more matches and of course the big finals. To make sure the tournament had a great ending, the crowed moved to Moomba Beach Club after the final for the prizegiving and a nice goodbye party.

The organisers of this ‘fantastick' tournament did a great job!! Thank you Adrie, Bob, Jan, Maaike, Theo.
